Lens Magnification
A lens’s magnification is the ratio of image to object distance, telling you how much larger (or inverted) the image is.
The magnification is m = −v/u. where v is the image distance and u the object distance.
Take the negative ratio of image to object distance.
Results
A magnitude above 1 enlarges; the negative sign signals an inverted real image. Cameras, projectors and microscopes all live by this ratio.
