Process and combustion calculations need mass flow, obtained from the measured volume flow and the fluid density.
The mass flow rate is ṁ = ρ·Q. where ρ is the density and Q the volumetric flow rate.
Inputs
rho := 1000 kg/m^3=1000 kg/m^3
Q := 0.02 m^3/s=0.02 m^3/s
Multiply density by volume flow.
m_dot := rho·Q=20 kg/s
Results
Mass flow is conserved along a pipe even where area and velocity change, making it the right quantity for energy and material balances.
