The mass flow through any section is the product of density, area and velocity — continuity in its most direct form.
The mass flow is ṁ = ρ·A·v. where ρ is the density, A the area and v the velocity.

For incompressible flow the mass flow is constant along the nozzle, so as the area shrinks the velocity rises to match.
