Mathcad import

Home → Import ▾ accepts Mathcad Prime (.mcdx) and Mathcad 15 (.xmcd) files up to 25 MB. Calculeaf builds a new worksheet from the regions it recognises: maths, text, and pictures, plus the page header and footer, which arrive switched on.

Your Mathcad file is untouched. The sheet you had open is left alone.

What does not come across

Plot regions are not converted. Rebuild them in Calculeaf once the maths behind them evaluates. A maths, text, or picture region that cannot be translated is not dropped silently. It becomes a text block headed Unconverted Mathcad with the original content underneath, so you can see what needs retyping. Position is approximate throughout, because Mathcad's region boxes and Calculeaf's wrap metrics do not agree.

The first pass after an import

1. Run Evaluate (Ctrl+Enter ) and read the errors from the top down. A name that failed to convert surfaces as an error on the first region that uses it, not where it was defined.
2. Check units before you trust a number. Mathcad custom units have no equivalent here, and some compound forms need retyping from Units ▾ so the token is recognised rather than read as a variable.
3. Rebuild Given/solve blocks. Constraints commonly arrive as ordinary assignments, which evaluate but do not solve.
4. Drag regions back into reading order. Evaluation follows visual order — top to bottom, then left to right — not the Mathcad region ID, so a definition that landed low on the page fails everything above it.
5. Pull anything sitting past the right-hand edge back onto the page. Wide imports are common, and an off-page region is left out when you print.
6. Keep working in the account copy, or export a .leaf once the sheet is clean.
