Autocomplete

While you type at the end of a math region, Calculeaf can suggest worksheet variable names and units that match the letters so far.

Autocomplete suggestions open under a math field while typing a unit.
Suggestions list variables first, then units. Tab accepts the highlighted row.

Turn it on or off

On the Math Format tab, the Autocomplete group has one button: Autocomplete. It is on by default. The tooltip reads: suggest matching units and existing variable names while typing in math regions. The status bar confirms “Autocomplete on” or “Autocomplete off”.

What it suggests

  • Variables already defined on this sheet, matched from the start of the name.
  • Units from the catalogue. If the region already has a result unit, unit suggestions stay in that dimension — typing in a force result offers other force units, not metres.

You need at least one character. The list is capped so the best exact match stays on top.

Keyboard

  • / — move the highlight.
  • Tab — accept the highlighted suggestion.
  • Enter — accept, unless the token already matches exactly (then Enter behaves as usual).
  • Esc — dismiss the list.

Clicking a unit on a result also opens a compatible-unit list when Autocomplete is on. That is the same catalogue as the result-chip picker.

For the typed names, see Function catalog and Greek letters and symbols. Unit suggestions come from the same catalogue as Units.
