Selection and clipboard

Select the regions you want to duplicate. Then cut, copy, or paste them.

Clipboard commands act on selected regions. If the caret is inside a field, Cut, Copy, and Paste fall back to the native text clipboard and move characters instead of blocks.

Select one region or several

• Click a region to select it on its own.
• Ctrl+click (Command-click on a Mac) adds a region to the selection, or removes it again.
• Drag on empty paper to rubber-band a box. Every region the box touches joins the selection.
• Click empty paper or press Esc to clear the selection.

Cut, copy, paste, delete

The buttons are on the Home tab, in the Edit group.

Command	Keys	What happens
Cut	Ctrl+X	Copies the selection, then removes it from the page.
Copy	Ctrl+C	Holds the selection, with each region's offset from the others.
Paste	Ctrl+V	Places the copies, keeping their relative layout. An image on the clipboard becomes a picture region instead.
Delete	Delete or Backspace	Removes the selected regions, as long as you are not typing in a field.

Where the copies land depends on whether an insertion cross is showing. Click the spot first and the group is pasted there. Paste with nothing marked and the copies appear 40 pixels down and to the right of the originals, ready to drag into place. Right-click gives you Copy and Delete without going near the ribbon.

With several regions selected, the context menu also offers Align left, center, and right, and resizes them all to the shortest or longest width in the group. Those are covered on Context menu.
