Calc numbering
Calc №s on the Math Format tab (Numbering group) prints a
bracketed number after each calculation, following the document sections:
[1.1], [1.2], and so on.

Turn it on
- Open the Math Format tab.
- Choose Calc №s. The tooltip reads: show calculation numbers [section.n] after each calc, following the document sections.
The button stays highlighted while numbering is on. It is a worksheet setting, not a per-region format — every calculation on the sheet is numbered, or none are.
How numbers are assigned
Numbers follow section headers you marked on the Text tab (Section, then Level 1–3). The first number is the section; the second increments for each calculation under that header in evaluation order.
A sheet with no sections still numbers calcs in evaluation order as
[1], [2], … Text, plots, and lists are not
numbered. Header and footer regions are ignored.
Where they appear
Calc numbers show on the canvas and in a printed PDF. Use them when you
cross-reference a result in a note (“see [2.3]”). They are not variable
names — you cannot write [2.3] in a formula.
